Want to transport the washing machine & dryer yourself? Here are some tips
When transporting a washing machine, whether loading or unloading, it is important to take the proper precautions to prevent damage. Whether you are moving to a new home or need to take the washing machine to a repair shop, here are some important steps to follow.
1. Preparation: Before moving the washing machine, make sure it is completely turned off and disconnected from the power supply and water pipes. Then you need to drain the water from the machine and make sure the drum is empty. It is also advisable to secure the drum with shipping bolts or pins to prevent damage from movement during transportation.
2. Protection: To prevent scratches, dents or other damage, it is advisable to pack the washing machine with protective material, such as blankets, cushions or special moving blankets. Make sure that all vulnerable parts, such as control panels or door seals, are well protected.
3. Tools: Moving a washing machine can be a challenging task due to its 100kg weight and size. It is advisable to use a hand truck or a Grippy to distribute the weight and make it easier to move the machine. Be sure to secure the washing machine securely to the hand truck to prevent it from falling or shifting during transport.
4. Loading: When loading the washing machine into a vehicle, ensure that it is securely positioned and will not move while driving. Place the machine on a level surface and use tie-down straps or ropes if necessary to hold it in place. Make sure there is sufficient protection between the washing machine and other objects in the vehicle to prevent damage.
5. Unloading: When unloading the washing machine, be careful to avoid injury. Make sure there are enough people available to help lift and place the machine at the desired location. If necessary, use a hand truck again to distribute the weight and move the machine safely.
